Montilivi 2025

When LED technology becomes a sensory experience

Between November 13th and 16th, the Montilivi campus of the University of Girona was transformed into a space where light ceased to be merely technical, becoming instead a source of interaction, emotion, and discovery. At this edition of Encén Montilivi 2025, LCE participated by contributing LED materials for one of the most unique installations: “Beats, beats, beats, heartbeats,” a piece that linked heartbeat, body, and light.

encén montilivi 2025: An event that unites technology, training and creativity

Encén Montilivi 2025 brought together lighting companies, educators, students, and the general public in an event designed to explore the culture of light from innovative perspectives. Installations, technical demonstrations, and participatory activities transformed the campus into an open laboratory for exploring new ways of understanding lighting. During these days, attendees were able to explore interactive installations and technical sessions: chromatic landscapes that reacted to movement, light keyboards where the public became the performers, and IoT platforms that allow for efficient and interactive light management. These proposals reflect a growing trend: lighting is no longer just functional, but rather a tool for interaction, creativity, and connection with the environment.

Beats, beats, beats, heartbeats: when the heartbeat becomes light

This year we participated in Encén Montilivi, providing the LED materials for the installation “Beats, beats, beats, heartbeats,” an experience where each visitor could see their own heartbeat transformed into light.
UA biometric sensor recorded the pulse in real time and translated it into a unique light sequence, creating an intimate and surprising moment where technology highlighted something as everyday—and as invisible—as a heartbeat.

This project demonstrates how lighting can go beyond its technical function to become integrated into immersive, dynamic, and people-centered experiences. For LED component manufacturers, this approach opens the door to new applications—from wellness spaces to art installations and experiential retail projects—and highlights the need to evolve toward modular, connected solutions capable of interacting with other systems.

Looking ahead: trends taking shape

Encén Montilivi 2025 has made it clear that lighting is evolving towards more interactive, connected, and people-centered environments. Collaboration between universities, companies, and creative projects is driving a vision where light not only illuminates but also accompanies, communicates, and transforms spaces. For the industry, these trends not only mark new technical possibilities but also a shift in how projects are conceived: lighting is now integrated from the outset into the design of experiences, rather than being an afterthought. This is a path where light ceases to be an isolated element and becomes a key component within hybrid systems that combine hardware, software, and human behavior.

LCE, A Commitment to Innovation

At LCE, we will continue to support initiatives that promote new perspectives on lighting and collaborate with manufacturers who want to explore diverse, integrated, and user-oriented applications. If you are interested in learning how our components can be adapted to innovation projects or become part of interactive experiences, we would be delighted to assist you.
